DESCRIPTION AND USE
SPECTRUS OX1203 is an effective, broad spectrum microbiocide in a convenient tablet form. The product contains active bromine and chlorine in a stabilized form; they are released into the water in a controlled fashion as the tablets dissolve.
Bromine and chlorine work together to provide effective control for a broad spectrum of slime forming organisms. By controlling slime accumulations,SPECTRUS OX1203 allows cooling towers and heat exchangers to operate at peak efficiency and reduces the tendency for under deposit corrosion. SPECTRUS OX1203 may be usedalternately with other SPECTRUS products to improve overall program effectiveness by reducing the development of microorganism strains that are resistant to a single biological agent.
SPECTRUS OX1203 is registered with Agriculture Canada for the control of bacteria, fungal and algal slimes in industrial and commercial cooling towers, influent water systems such as flow through filters and lagoons, once-through and closed-cycle fresh and sea water cooling systems, cooling ponds, canals, lagoons, brewery pasteurizers and industrial air washing systems with a misteliminator.
TREATMENT AND FEEDING REQUIREMENTS
In small systems, SPECTRUS OX1203 may be fed directly to the cooling water, pasteurizer or air washer by means of plastic or stainless steel feed device, such as a mesh bag or perforated container that provides gradual solution. The product can be economically applied directly to areas of the system in which there is particularly heavy fouling. For larger applications, a by-pass feeder is recommended to achieve consistent product residuals throughout the system.
BetzDearborn offers a full range of feeder systems for applying SPECTRUS OX1203.
Proper treatment levels for SPECTRUS OX1203 depend on many factors, such as the nature and degree of severity of the microbial problem, system retention time, temperature, and other operating conditions. Typically, enough SPECTRUS OX1203 is added to the system to maintain a 1 mg/L total halogen residual in the water for at least four hours daily.
For best results, your BetzDearborn representative should determine the proper dosage for the specific system and the problem to be treated.
In all cases, product application must be in accordance with the use instructions on the SPECTRUS OX1203 label.
