Product Description
Sodium benzoate, also known as sodium benzoate, is an organic substance with the chemical formula of C7H5NaO2. It is a white particle or crystal powder, odorless or slightly fragrant, slightly sweet and astringent. The relative molecular weight is 144.12. It is stable in air and soluble in water. The pH value of its aqueous solution is 8 and soluble in ethanol.
Benzoic acid and its salts are broad-spectrum antimicrobial agents, but its antibacterial effectiveness depends on the pH value of food. With the increase of medium acidity, its bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect increases, but it loses its bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect in alkaline medium. The optimum pH value for anti-corrosion is 2.5 ~ 4.0.

Application
- It is mainly used as food preservative and also in the preparation of drugs and dyes
