DESCRIPTION AND USE
FoodProTM ST8038 is an alkaline treatment product for use in brewery pasteurizers which contains Alkyl Epoxy Carboxylate (AEC). AEC is a non-phosphonate calcium carbonate inhibitor and is utilized as the primary deposit control agent. This product is a complete program containing components to control corrosion and scale formation in recirculating/ regenerative pasteurizer spray water systems over the alkaline pH range of 7.8 to 9.0 plus. AEC technology is a major breakthrough in calcium carbonate scale control. Figure 1 demonstrates the ability of AEC to inhibit calcium carbonate scale compared to other conventional inhibitors.
Organic phosphate inhibitors are susceptible to breakdown or reversion to orthophosphate in the presence of chlorine leading to lower performance levels regarding carbonate scale inhibition. Figure 2 demonstrates that there is no loss of calcium carbonate scale inhibition in the presence of chlorine. The AEC molecule is truly halogen stable.
FoodPro ST8038 also contains the GE Betz patented Halogen Resistant Azole (HRA). The HRA has dramatically improved copper and mild steel corrosion rates where applied while reducing the environmental impact of the treatment program.
TREATMENT AND FEEDING REQUIREMENTS
Proper treatment levels for FoodPro ST8038 depend on many factors such as the potential for corrosion and scaling particular to a given installation. Consult your GE Betz representative for specific product dosages and applications guidelines. Tanks, pumps, piping and valves should be constructed of stainless steel, polyethylene, or PVC.
