DESCRIPTION AND USE 

FoamTrol AF1740 is a broad-based, multicompo-nent, oil-based antifoam/defoamer designed to control foam in industrial wastewater treatment systems and chemical process separations units.

Components of FoamTrol AF1740 are approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for use in the manufacture of paper and paperboard for food packaging (21 CFR 176.210).

This product can be applied to biological wastewater treatment systems as well as other systems where foam causes safety or processing concerns.

TREATMENT AND FEEDING REQUIREMENTS 

Proper treatment levels for FoamTrol AF1740 depend on site-specific foam control requirements as well as feed points,control methods, and type and severity of foam. 

Several levels of sophistication in feeding product are available. In wastewater systems, simply applying product to one spot in a large basin is often sufficient because of the high spreadability of the product over the surface of water. Simple feed of antifoam using a standard metering pump is often sufficient. Automatic, requirement-based feedback control based on foam probe signals is available. Where a higher degree of customization is required, site-specific control algorithms are easily developed for use with BetzDearborn automated feed equipment. 

FoamTrol AF1740 should be fed neat (undiluted) directly from the shipping container or storage tank.

FoamTrol AF1740 is compatible with carbon steel, 304 and 316 stainless steel, polypropylene, Teflon®, and other materials.

FoamTrol AF1740 is a liquid product available in a variety of containers. Consult your BetzDearborn rep-resentative for delivery and packaging alternatives.

STORAGE AND HANDLING 

Store FoamTrol AF1740 at warm temperatures of 80 to 90°F (27 to 32°C) to maintain homogeneity. To ensure maximum activity,this product should be used within one year.
