DESCRIPTION AND USE
CONTINUUM AT3201 is a special blend of organic and inorganic corrosion inhibitors. It does not contain any toxic heavy metals. It is designed to control corrosion and scale formation in open recirculating cool-ing water systems operating at high pH. All compo-nents of this alkaline blend are compatible with typi-cal chlorination practices.
CONTINUUM AT3201 protects many commonly used metals from corrosion by forming an inhibiting film on the metal surface.
In addition, deposit control agents in the product allow cooling systems to be operated in highly buffered, alkaline environments.
Operating in an elevated pH range also reduces or eliminates the need for acid feed.
CONTINUUM AT3201 also contains an organic inhibitor, especially suited for the protection of copper metallurgy.
Organic sequestrants and dispersants contained in CONTINUUM AT3201 are particularly effective in controlling calcium scales, iron, aluminum, silt, and suspended solids.
The program contains the unique calcium phosphate inhibitor, HPS 1, use of which is covered by U.S. Patents 4,759,851 and 4,895,663.
TREATMENT AND FEEDING REQUIREMENTS
Proper treatment levels for CONTINUUM AT3201 depend on many factors, such as the corrosion and scaling potentials, and conditions particular to a given installation. This product should be used in accordance with control procedures that BetzDearborn establishes for a specific application.
CONTINUUM AT3201 is best fed neat (undiluted) from the storage tank to a point in the cooling system with high turbulence, where it will be rapidly mixed with the bulk cooling water. Dilutions of the product, if necessary, should be made with soft water.
Tanks, pumps, piping and valves should be made of mild steel, stainless steel, polyethylene, or most com-mon plastics.
Feed of CONTINUUM AT3201 is controlled by a sim-ple and accurate orthophosphate test.
